Animal Collective - My Girls
Posted: Sun Feb 06, 2011 3:27 pmI've created a patch for the Animal Collective song 'My Girls' - this band seem to be popular with the hipster kids nowadays; I listened to the record and personally I don't see it 
but this song has a good synth line and it was very simple to recreate, as I'm still just a beginner!
Anyway, my version sounds like this:
Tone 1 is a simple wind sound
Tone 2 is the synth arpeggio
Tone 3 is the synth arpeggio down an octave or two
To faithfully emulate the original, play the chord two octaves above middle C. Key hold that chord and then you can mess about with the settings as you like!
The release time on both the arpeggios can be lengthened which kinda creates a 'pad' under the picking of the arpeggio; same goes for the reverb, you can get a nice wall of sound going.
Try increasing/decreasing the delay mix/feedback to create different patterns.
